Best Coffee in Sayulita: Where to Start Your Day Before an Ocean Adventure

There's something special about mornings in Sayulita. Before the surfers paddle out to catch the first waves, before the dive boats leave the marina, and before the beaches begin to fill with visitors, the town has a peaceful energy that's best enjoyed with a great cup of coffee.

If you're visiting Sayulita for scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, whale watching, or simply exploring Riviera Nayarit, starting your day at the right café can make your entire experience even better.

After years of living and working here, we've visited most of the coffee shops in town. While everyone has their favorite, there's one place we consistently recommend to our guests.

Our Favorite Coffee Shop in Sayulita

Cafe Coyote has become one of our favorite places to enjoy breakfast before heading out for an adventure.

Located just a few minutes from downtown, this cozy neighborhood café offers excellent locally roasted coffee, fresh breakfasts, homemade pastries, smoothies and a relaxed atmosphere that's perfect for starting the day without the crowds.

Unlike the busier cafés around the main plaza, Cafe Coyote has a quieter atmosphere where you can actually slow down, enjoy your coffee and plan your day.

Whether you're traveling solo, with family or friends, it's an easy place to feel at home.

A Great Location

One of the reasons we recommend Cafe Coyote is its convenient location.

Within just a short walk you'll find:

  • Viajero Sayulita Hostel, one of the most popular hostels for surfers, backpackers and digital nomads.

  • Casa de la Ballena, a beautiful boutique hotel located nearby.

  • Sayulita's main plaza.

  • The beach.

  • Local boutiques, restaurants and surf shops.

Because of its central location, it's an easy stop before heading anywhere in town.

The Perfect Start Before Diving, Snorkeling or Surfing

A relaxed breakfast is always better than rushing straight into an activity.

Many of our guests enjoy arriving a little earlier, having breakfast, grabbing a coffee and then meeting us before heading to the marina or starting their surf lesson.

If you're staying near downtown Sayulita, Viajero Hostel or Casa de la Ballena, it's an easy and comfortable place to meet before we begin the day's adventure.

More Than Just Coffee

  • One of the things we love most about Sayulita is that it's a town best discovered little by little.

  • Some visitors come for the waves.

  • Others come to dive.

  • Some arrive hoping to see whales or explore the Marietas Islands.

  • Whatever brings you here, taking the time to enjoy a great local café is part of the experience.

  • And for us, Cafe Coyote is one of those places that perfectly captures the relaxed spirit of Sayulita.
