SCUBA DIVING EXPEDITIONS IN SAYULITA
Scuba dive El Morro
Perfect for Advanced divers, especially those who like exploring caves
El Morro is one of the most advanced dive sites in Bahía de Banderas, located offshore in open Pacific waters. The site is characterized by volcanic pinnacles and submerged rock formations rising from deep water, creating vertical structure, strong blue-water exposure, and pelagic interaction zones.
Typical dive profiles range between 25 meters (82 ft) average depth, with maximum depths between 30–40 meters (98–130 ft) depending on conditions and diver certification. El Morro is frequently conducted as a drift dive, as currents are common and form part of the site’s dynamic nature.
This is a site for Advanced Open Water divers only. Divers should be comfortable with depth, open-ocean navigation, blue-water ascents, and variable currents.
El Morro is known for pelagic marine life encounters, including manta rays, large schools of jacks and tuna, and seasonal shark sightings. The structure provides cleaning stations and high-energy feeding zones uncommon in inshore reefs.
Nitrox is strongly recommended due to depth profiles and repetitive dive planning.
