SCUBA DIVING TOURS IN SAYULITA, MEXICO
Princess Wreck Dive
Perfect for Certified divers in Mexico
The Princess Wreck is a 50-foot intentionally sunk vessel located in Bahía de Banderas, Puerto Vallarta, resting on a sandy bottom with a maximum depth of approximately 36 meters (118 ft). The main exploration profile is typically conducted around 20 meters (65 ft), making it accessible to experienced divers while still offering deeper sections for those properly trained.
This site is recommended for Advanced Open Water divers or Open Water divers with a Wreck Diving Specialty certification. The wreck is penetrable, allowing qualified divers to explore interior sections, while exterior exploration offers structure detail, swim-through access points, and hull inspection.
Visibility ranges from 10 to 30 meters, depending on seasonal conditions. Currents are variable, generally manageable but requiring comfort in open-water conditions. The sandy bottom surrounding the wreck helps reduce silting compared to natural reef structures, though proper buoyancy control is essential during penetration.
Marine life commonly found around the wreck includes schooling fish, angelfish, pufferfish, moray eels, rays, and seasonal pelagic visitors. The structure acts as an artificial reef, attracting concentrated marine activity compared to surrounding open sand areas.
Nitrox is recommended to extend bottom time and increase safety margins, especially when exploring deeper sections near the maximum depth.
The Princess Wreck is ideal for divers looking for a structured, depth-oriented dive with navigation challenges and wreck exploration opportunities within Puerto Vallarta’s dive sites.
